Homi Bhabha Birth Centenary Celebrations

TIFR community at large had looked forward to the arrival of Birth Centenary Year of its founder Director, Dr. Homi Bhabha (b. October 30, 1909) to reaffirm its commitment and enhance their inputs to preserve and enrich the mandate of promoting excellence in fundamental research and nurturing young scientific talent in the country. Director, TIFR constituted the Homi Bhabha Birth Centenary Commemorative Committee (HBBCCC) in July, 2008 to coordinate and plan new initiatives and facilitate the conduct of commemorative events in the two year long Birth Centenary year period lasting upto October 30, 2010. TIFR staff and members of its Alumni Association had put forth a variety of suggestions to celebrate Homi Bhabha's Birth Centenary during an open forum meeting held in the Lecture Theatre on TIFR Alumni Day, July 29, 2008 (Mr. J.R.D. Tata's 104th birthday).
