CLIMATE        The climate in general is quite pleasant throughout the year, except during the dry summer months of March, April, and May. The mean daily maximum and minimum temperatures during these three months are around 42°C and 25°C respectively. The annual rainfall is about 76 cm. of which 80% falls during the wet summer months viz. June through September. The weather is pleasant during the winter months viz. November through February, when the maximum and minimum temperatures are around 30°C and 15°C respectively. TransportationAIR        Hyderabad city is well connected by Air India as well as other commercial carriers. There are a several International flights from Hyderabad operated by Air India. The NBF is located 50 km from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad. Rental car services are available everywhere in the city. RAIL        The city is also connected with the four metropolises of Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata by long distance train service. The NBF is located at a distance of 15 Km from Hyderabad Railway Station, and 10 Km from Secunderabad Railway Station. Hyderabad and Secunderabad are twin cities and also the capital of Andhra Pradesh. LOCAL TRANSPORTATION        The twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad have a well knit public transportation system run by the State Government Transport Corporation. However, the most practical and convenient form of local transportation for visiting scientists is a rental car. LODGING        The NBF maintains hostel accommodation of sixteen moderately furnished rooms. Several "starred" hotels as well as low budget hotel accommodation are available in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. RESTAURANTS        A variety of restaurants and cafes offer dining facilities. These restaurants are located at a number of places in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. RELIGIOUS SERVICES        Places of worship such as Temples, Churches, Mosques and Gurudwaras, etc., are located in the twin cities. |
