Project Description

The purpose of the project was to develop a Web application, which will be used to manage the class B network of the TIFR (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research) and associated subnets. The project would serve as a management tool which will be used by network administrators to trace out information about any node in any TIFR subnet. The first module is intended to handle role management for network admins, do a user profiling and give controlled access to authorized segments of the network, the person is in charge of. This module also handles IP assignment and management
The features of the project would be that it will be modular and scalable for inclusion of any different network scheme which may arise in future. The application thus developed would be able to gather details of the underlying network architecture & to facilitate hardware trace-ability to the end node.
Developing an IP audit tool would be the second major module of the project, which would ascertain that the IPs listed as blocked by the system are in reality blocked state. It would further provide support for logging and report generation.

Skill Set

The main skill set required for this project include Linux shell scripting, CSS, browser details, PHP scripting and MySQL and knowledge of Linux system functioning, knowledge of router and firewall access control lists.

Team and Project Information

The project was divided into two separate modules each of which was handled by a team of 3 students.
Network Management System module 1 involved automation of the management of the network in the institute.
IP Audit tool involved automation of the workflow concerning Network IP audit
