The Astronomy and Astrophysics department of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai is looking for bright young scientists for regular academic and post-doctoral positions.

Candidates with a Ph. D. in any area of theoretical and observational astronomy, and a minimum of 2-3 years of post-doctoral experience with excellent academic record are encouraged to apply for permanent academic positions. Applicants with proven research leadership and higher experience would be considered for appropriate senior academic positions. Fresh Ph.D.'s will be considered for a Post-doctoral appointment. Post-doctoral appointments are on yearly basis and generally renewable up to two years. Post-doctoral applications to the department will be discussed only twice a year (i.e. May 1st and November 1st). Any decisions will be made after these dates. Applications are invited for Visiting Fellow Positions (postdoc positions) in the department from candidates who have completed their Ph.D. The honorarium for this position will be fixed as per experience of the fellow. Accommodation for visiting fellows will be generally provided by the Institute, subject to availability. If accommodation is not provided, Visiting Fellows are entitled to House Rent Allowance as per the rules. M.Sc./B.Tech/M.Tech. graduates can apply for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) position for DAA experimental projects in the department. Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) is also possible in case of appropriate research experience. JRF /SRF are entitled to honorarium and House Rent Allowance as per rules. The appointment is initially for one year, extendable up to a maximum of 4 years, subject to satisfactory progress.
