Academic Positions Available

 

The department has openings for positions of  Visiting Fellows, Visiting Scientists, Regular Academic Members and JRF/SRF

 

Visiting Fellows: Those who have completed their Ph.D. recently or   just submitted their Ph.D. thesis and those with one year of post-doctoral experience can apply for Visiting Fellow Position in the department. The honorarium for this position is currently as follows: Rs.15000/- for those who have submitted Ph.D. thesis; Rs. 16000/- for fresh Ph.D.; Rs. 17000/- for Ph.D. with one year post-doctoral experience and Rs. 17500/- for Ph.D. with two or more years of experience. Accommodation for visiting fellows will be generally provided in the apartments located opposite the Institute subject to availability. If an accommodation is not provided, Visiting Fellows are entitled to House Rent Allowance as per the rules. Interested candidates may send his/her CV with a covering letter by e-mail or by post to the Faculty member working in the area of his/her interest or to the Chairperson of the Department.

  

Visiting Scientists:  Those with a few years of experience of research and having a regular position in another organization can also apply as visiting scientists. The duration of the visit can be decided depending on the project and in consultation with the scientist at TIFR. The honorarium for visiting scientist will be suitably fixed depending on the experience. Interested candidates may send his/her CV with a covering letter by e-mail or by post to the Faculty member working in the area of his/her interest or to the Chairperson of the Department. 

 

Regular Academic Members:  The department is actively seeking applications from young, dynamic scientists with an innate urge for carrying out experimental or theoretical research of the highest quality in an area of current research activity or close to it. Applicants may also propose new and novel areas of experimental research in chemical sciences.

 

Qualifications: (i) First class in B.Sc. and M. Sc. (ii) Ph.D. with a few years of post-doctoral research experience. Fresh Ph.D.'s with exceptional accomplishments may also apply.

Application: Application must include a covering letter, a detailed CV with the complete list of publications (with copies of the 3 most important ones), a list of 4-5 referees and an original research proposal (up to 4 pages, including a list of major equipments/facilities required). The application should be prepared as pdf files, preferably a single pdf file, and sent by email to dcs@tifr.res.in.

 

JRF / SRF: Those who have completed B.Sc. or  B.Tech./M.Sc./M.Tech. recently or just appeared for their final semester/year exams &/or submitted their M.Sc./M.Tech. thesis and are waiting for the results can apply for Junior Research Fellowship or Senior Research Fellowship position in the department. The honorarium for JRF is Rs.8000/- for B.Sc. and Rs. 12000/- for B.Tech./M.Sc./M.Tech.  SRF is offered to candidates with prior research experience and NET qualification. Honorarium for SRF is Rs.14000/-. Accommodation is not provided for JRF / SRF. Instead, JRF / SRF are entitled to House Rent Allowance as per rules. The appointment is made initially for 6 months, which may be extended up to a maximum of 2/3 years, subject to satisfactory progress.
