Low Temperature Facility

Introduction

The current Helium Liquefier in operation is of KOCH make; Model 1610s was installed and commissioned during January, 1992. The liquefier is liquefying since then without any major trouble.

The above is capable of liquefying helium, which varies from 15 liters per hour to 75 liters per hour under various operating condition mentioned below.

Without LN2 pre-cooling:
17 to 45 liters per hour with pure gas
15 to 25 liters per hour with impure gas

With LN2 pre-cooling:
25 to 70 liters per hour with pure gas
45 to 55 liters per hour with impure gas



NEW HELIUM LIQUIFIER INSTALLED IN TIFR

To mmet the growing liquid helium demand, LTF-TIFR recently installed the fully automated, PLC controlled modern helium liquefier.

The above plant was installed by LTF-TIFR and ready for commissioing
