TRAVELOGUE
I went back to Peru
in June-July 2005 to hike the remote Huayhuash
range (see map) of the Andes
mountains. I walked alone through seldom visited valleys, shared food with
shepherds and shivered in the tent in sub-zero temperatures at night, stood on
desolate mountain passes and drank from glacial streams. It was wonderful to
meet the real people of Peru
