Salher is the highest fortress (5140 feet) in Maharashtra. It is located about 80 kms north of Nashik. It has witnessed major battles during the Maratha period. Long, steep hike from Waghamba. Some parts during the climb have exposed rock face.  Many caves, water tanks and structures at the top. Water from a tank near the Yagnakund can also be used for drinking. Thrilling climb to Parshuram temple at the summit.
