Sayan Chakraborti

Welcome to my homepage.
My name is Sayan Chakraborti. I'm a graduate student at the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics (DAA) at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR). My area of research involves, massive stars (more than eight times the mass of our Sun) which explode as Supernovae at the end of their lives. I study the populations that these stars come from and their effects on their environments. The photograph you see above, is that of the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) operated by my institute. It is the largest radio telescope which can look at radio waves of about a metre in wavelength. I use it to study the shock waves that a Supernova produces while interacting with the matter around its parent star.
