ASTROSAT Junior Research Fellows
ASTROSAT is an Indian Multiwavelength Satellite for
research in astronomy. The scientific
instruments for Astrosat are under development at various national centres / institutions in the
country. Applications for Astrosat Junior Research Fellows (JRFs), funded by
Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), are invited from post-graduates in
Physics / Applied Physics, graduates in
Engineering (electronics / mechanical), and Engineering Physics with strong
motivation towards experimental activities. The selected candidates will be
expected to participate under the guidance of scientists in : (I) Design and
development of scientific instruments, their testing and qualification; (II) Development of software for instrument testing,
check-out and analysis of science data. The JRFs will be posted at any of the
following places: Tata Institute of
Fundamental Research (Mumbai), Indian
Institute of Astrophysics (Bangalore), ISRO Satellite Centre
(Bangalore), Raman Research Institute (Bangalore) and Center for Space Physics,
Kolkata. These fellowships will be
initially for a duration of 2 years with the possibility of extension
after annual assessment. The stipend will be Rs. 8,000/- plus admissible house
rent allowance during the first two years with appropriate higher stipend afterwards. Interested candidates are
required to send their applications with Curriculum Vitae (CV), complete
details of education with copies of mark sheets from H.S.C onwards. The
applicants should clearly indicate in their application two institutions in order of preference where
they would like to work, if selected. The applications can be submitted on
plain paper with a copy of a recent passport size photograph by
