One of the visions of Homi Bhabha in the establishment of TIFR was to nurture
and have young Indian scientists set up a strong scientific environment.
TIFR is organising a series of events to mark the centenary of its founder Homi Bhabha
over the period October 2008-October 2010. As a part of this Homi Bhabha birth centenary
programme (HBBCCC) the first
Young Indian Scientists Colloquium (YISC2009) will be held from September 7-10, 2009, in TIFR.
YISC2009 will feature
talks by several invited young scientists from all over India covering various aspects
of Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
A large number of college
teachers, who have inspired several of the graduate students, have been invited to
attend this event from all over the country.
We encourage college and university teachers from in and around Mumbai to register
for this event on line before August 14 to help us finalise the
programme. Please note that there is no registration fee.
We look forward to your active participation.
Highlights of this event will include one hour talks by each of the speakers, a panel
discussion (with eminent scientists and science teachers), visits to various laboratories
in TIFR, and informal discussions with the speakers and TIFR members.
YISC2009 will also feature a classical music concert by Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia.
