Hema Ramachandran Lectureship Award :
In the memory of Dr. Hema Ramachandran, Hema Ramachandran Lectureship Award has been instituted in 2021. The award is meant to give recognition to an Indian scientist, for a specific innovation and/or achievement in an experimental area, preferably one resulting in a national/international patent application or in a specific product/process.
The award will be open to all Indian researchers working in India (under the age of 60 years) and affiliated to Indian Institutions, with a preference for young researchers, especially young women scientists.
The award consists of a citation, a medal and an amount of Rs. 1,00,000/-.
The awardee will give two public lectures (one each in 2022 and 2023).
About Prof. Hema Ramachandran :
Prof. Hema Ramachandran was an eminent experimental scientist, excellent teacher and mentor. Her research work spanned different areas of optics and photonics, laser science, atomic physics, quantum information and applications across disciplines. In the later part of her career, she focused on the development of innovative technologies related to the brain-computer interface and was also passionate about setting up teaching laboratories. She was a role model to young researchers, particularly women.
