C L Bhat Memorial Award for the Best Student at the Indian Astronomy Olympiad Camp :
The CL Bhat Memorial Award for the Best Student at the Indian Astronomy Award Camp is given at both Junior and Senior levels each year, at the Indian Astronomy Olympiad Camp.
The CL Bhat Memorial Award for the Best Student at the Indian Astronomy Award Camp is given at both Junior and Senior levels each year, at the Indian Astronomy Olympiad Camp. The award is supported by an endowment received from Professor A. W. Wolfendale, FRS, from the University of Durham, UK. The donation was made by Prof. Wolfendale to honour the memory of Dr. C. L. Bhat.
The award to each student (junior and senior) consists of a Certificate and a cash amount of Rs. 1,500/-.

About Dr. C. L. Bhat :
Dr. C. L. Bhat was a distinguished physicist at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre’s Nuclear Physics Laboratory at Srinagar and Mumbai.
He was the head of the Laboratory in Mumbai and he inspired his group to create several major research facilities of high energy cosmic rays at Gurushikhar.
Dr. Bhat was also a General Secretary of IPA and is his tenure is remembered as one of the most active periods of the association.
Dr. Bhat was an extra ordinary scientist, teacher and person who created and inspired a whole series of activities in Astronomy and Astronomy Education.
