Mumbai Attacks: Message from the Organizing Committee

This is to keep you updated on the recent tragic events of 13 July when explosions occurred at three locations in central Mumbai with nineteen casualties. This has resulted in heightened security all over the city, including south Mumbai where the symposium venue and the symposium hotels are located. The symposium venue is in the premises of the Tata Institute which is located inside the secure Naval area.

Sadly, the terrorist threat is a part of modern life in big cities everywhere in the world today. While our heart goes out to those affected by the blasts, we have every intention of carrying on with business as usual. Mumbai was back to work the day after the attacks, that is the spirit of Mumbai and of India, never to be cowed down, never to let the attackers succeed in their purpose.

We thank all our speakers who have confirmed that they will come and we request all our international friends and supporters to stand by us in this hour and help us to make this a successful conference. We assure you that we will make every effort to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We are making transport arrangement to bring you to the venue of the conference and also to take you back to your respective hotels everyday during the conference. The program for the accompanying person is also getting ready.

Please do not hesitate to send us email if you have any question.

Looking forward to meet you in Mumbai next month.
