The Logo on the top right was conceived and designed by Ulf Leonhardt for MetaIn 2008

The figure illustrates how transformation optics makes a real difference. It changes an optical singularity from something impossible to build into a practical device. The harmful singularity is transmuted into a mere topological defect, the axis of the wheel. Thus, the 'Chakra' moves on to make hitherto impossible optical devices possible. For the relevant mathematical details, see, T Tyc and U Leonhardt, "Transmutation of singularities in optical instruments", New J. Phys. 10, 115038 (2008).
