Beams 1H, 6,7Li, 10,11B, C, N, O, F, Na, Mg, Al, Si, S, Cl, K, Ca, Ni are routinely available. Heavier beams like As, Ag and I have been used occasionally. The Pelletron is routinely operated at 3−12.5 MV terminal voltages. Higher energies using the second foil stripper have also been delivered for the experiments. Alpha beam was made available to users in 1995 and in 2002 using Alphatross source.
Five beam lines are laid in the main beam hall .The beam transport system on these lines is remotely controlled using a CAMAC system and integrated with the indigenously developed PC based control system of the main accelerator . The 300 N beam line is mainly used for irradiation. Besides the routine operation and maintenance of the accelerator a major effort of the machine staff has been made towards indigenous development of accelerator components and facilities.
